TRANSWESTERN ROLE

Tom Dwyer is Vice President and responsible for receivership services at Transwestern.

CAREER HIGHLIGHTS

Prior to joining Transwestern, Tom founded Long Gate Associates, LLC, an asset management, receivership and commercial real estate advisory firm. Before Long Gate, Tom was a Managing Director in CWCapital’s CMBS special servicing unit, which managed a nationwide portfolio of commercial loan workouts and REO. He was a member of the management team that oversaw CWCapital’s portfolio as it grew from $1 billion to $23 billion. Tom also directed an REO platform that grew to a 500 property, $10 billion portfolio, and 50-member asset management team during the great recession.
 
Tom’s 38 years of experience includes serving as an asset manager and Senior Vice President at Allied Capital where he started the company’s REO platform which was responsible for overseeing and engaging property managers and securing receivers for defaulted commercial loans throughout the U.S. Prior to Allied, Tom held positions in property management, loan underwriting, originations, acquisitions, and analytics at various developers, property managers, and lending institutions.
 
Tom is also an adjunct professor at the University of Maryland Colvin Institute of Real Estate, where he teaches commercial real estate finance.

PROFESSIONAL AFFILIATION / RECOGNITION

Tom is on the Council of Advisors for the University of Maryland Colvin Institute of Real Estate Development. He has spoken on panels for CREFC, ICSC, Urban Land Institute, NAIOP, and Bisnow, as well as guest lectured at Johns Hopkins, Georgetown, American University and the University of Colorado.

EDUCATION

Tom earned a Master’s degree in Real Estate from the Carey Business School at Johns Hopkins University and a Bachelor of Arts in Urban Studies from the University of Maryland.
