Transwestern-Managed Assets Achieve Evidence-Based, Third-Party Verified Rating
November 04, 2021
MIAMI – Transwestern Real Estate Services (TRS) announces it has earned the WELL Health-Safety Rating through the International WELL Building Institute (IWBI) for five properties it manages on behalf of Sumitomo Corporation of Americas (SCOA) or its managed funds. The achievement is an evidence-based, third-party verification rating awarded to buildings that address post-COVID-19 management and operations through policies, protocols, stakeholder engagement and emergency plans.
“This recognition is a testament to the collective commitment and dedication of Sumitomo and Transwestern towards the health and well-being of our tenants, customers and community,” said Andi Lopez, Transwestern Managing Senior Vice President and office portfolio manager for SCOA. “We will continue to work hard to support the health and safety of everyone who walks through the front door of every building we oversee.”
Transwestern received the WELL Health-Safety Rating for the following properties:
- AFC Buckhead, a Class A, LEED-certified office campus comprising three buildings and 914,774 square feet at 3333, 3343 and 3353 Peachtree Road NE in Atlanta.
- Miami Tower, a Class A, LEED Gold-certified office high-rise totaling 600,959 square feet at 100 SE 2nd St. in Miami.
- SPS Tower, a LEED Gold-certified and International TOBY Award-winning building at 333 South 7th St. in downtown Minneapolis. The Class A office tower spans 31 stories and 655,070 square feet.
- 203 North LaSalle, a Class A, LEED Platinum-certified office building at 203 N. LaSalle St. in Chicago’s Central Loop totaling 624,724 square feet.
- 201 E. Washington, a Class A, LEED Gold-certified mixed-use property at 201 E. Washington St. in Phoenix encompassing 24-stories and 613,409 square feet.
“Our asset services teams go above and beyond to ensure the safety and well-being of each property Transwestern manages,” said Bruce Ford, President of Transwestern’s East region. “We’re proud to recognize their extraordinary efforts with this well-deserved achievement.”
The WELL Health-Safety Rating provides a centralized source and governing body to validate efforts made by owners and operators. It leverages insights drawn from the IWBI Task Force on COVID-19, in addition to guidance on the spread of COVID-19 and other respiratory infections developed by the World Health Organization, U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, global disease control and prevention centers and emergency management agencies, as well as recognized standard-making associations such as ASTM International and ASHRAE, and leading academic and research institutions, as well as core principles already established by IWBI’s WELL Building Standard, the premier framework for advancing health in buildings and spaces of all kinds.
