Hugh Stewart is Vice President of Transwestern Ventures. In this role, Hugh will oversee the sourcing, financial evaluation, acquisition and asset management of target investment opportunities.


Prior to Transwestern Ventures, Hugh was Vice President at Lazard, a global financial advisory and asset management firm where he specialized in technology, media and telecommunications investments. While at Lazard, he focused on infrastructure and mergers and acquisitions, closing over $10 billion in transactions.
He previously worked for J.P. Morgan’s Energy Investment Bank, successfully executing numerous equity and debt raises. Hugh held numerous roles at GE Aviation and GE Oil & Gas, focusing on corporate finance, financial planning and analysis, supply chain finance, contract structuring and corporate development.
Hugh is a board member for the Houston chapter of the Young Professionals in Finance. He previously served as a junior board member for Susan G. Komen’s Austin chapter.


Hugh holds an MBA with a concentration in finance from the University of Texas at Austin, where he was honored with the Dean’s Award for Academic Excellence and the Sord Scholar Award. He earned a bachelor’s degree in finance from Cornell University, where he graduated cum laude and played on the varsity football team. A native Houstonian, Hugh attended high school at Strake Jesuit College Preparatory.
