Biography

TRANSWESTERN ROLE

John is the General Manager for Maggie Daley Park, a 20-acre park located in the heart of Chicago. In this position, he serves as an expert leader for the parks management team, assisting with capital projects, accounting issues, service contract negotiations and venue/operator issues. John also acts as a liaison between the Chicago Park District and Transwestern Chicago and helps on-site property staff understand and achieve ownership objectives. He provides the Chicago Park District with accurate and comprehensive financial reporting and budgeting and successfully manages operations, including engineering, custodial, security, customer service and events management.

CAREER HIGHLIGHTS

John has served as General Manager for Maggie Daley Park since 2019. During this time, John has led several initiatives to bolster revenue at the park, such as implementing a successful reservation ticketing system for the ice-skating operations. The park has experienced multiple years of record ice-skating attendance and revenue numbers. In 2023, the ice-skating Ribbon experienced its most profitable season to date with total revenues of $2.15 million. Additionally, he has made modifications to the parks security system, especially to the procedures and oversight of the playground slides. The modifications resulted in a noticeable and sustained decrease in reported injuries. During his tenure at the park, John has led steps to increase revenue, increase park traffic, increase efficiencies, decrease expenses and decrease costly patron injuries.
 
Prior to his time at Maggie Daley Park, John has served as General Manager for various Chicago office buildings including 333 N. Michigan Ave., 200 W. Jackson Blvd. and the historic Pittsfield Building. He was also the Assistant General Manager of 181 W. Madison Ave.
