DALLAS – Transwestern today announces Samsung Electronics America Inc. has signed a lease for 216,000 square feet at Legacy Central at 6625 Declaration Avenue in Plano, Texas. The firm will relocate its Richardson headquarters to fully occupy Building 4 at the Legacy Central campus, with a planned move-in date of February 2019. Transwestern Managing Director Duane Henley and Principal Nathan Durham represented the building owner, Regent Properties, in the transaction.

Samsung plans to relocate its 1,300 regional employees to the new headquarters. Matt Astrachan, Steve Thelen, Kimarie Arkenbrand, Simon Landmann and Nicole Tiger of JLL represented Samsung in the lease.

“We are continuing our strong commitment to North Texas by investing in a new office space at Legacy Central,” said Tim Baxter, President and CEO, Samsung Electronics North America. “This move not only provides us with an opportunity to create an improved workplace experience for our Texas-based employees, but truly showcases our continued investment in our Texas roots.”

Regent CEO Eric Fleiss added, "Legacy Central allows Samsung the ability to have its own building with room to grow. The building look and feel supports Samsung’s brand identity, and the amenities and food hall will provide an enjoyable and productive environment for Samsung employees.”

Legacy Central is a dynamic, technology-oriented office and mixed-use campus on 84 acres, totaling nearly 1 million square feet of office space across four buildings and centered around engaging outdoor spaces. Regent Properties acquired the property in 2015, investing more than $80 million in common area capital improvements to transform the site into a cutting-edge, first-class creative office campus. Legacy Central’s amenities include a 25,000-square-foot fitness and sports center, a 300-seat conference center, tenant lounge and a farm-to-fork food hall that seats 400. The outdoors space offers Wi-Fi-enabled collaborative courtyards, meeting spaces and jogging trails.

“We welcome Samsung to the City of Excellence! This addition to our eastern corridor marks the continuation of the renaissance that began in Downtown Plano. It is a pivotal moment to have a company with the magnitude of Samsung be the catalyst that helps create a vibrant mixed-use development at Legacy Central. We look forward to welcoming their entire team to not only be in our city, but to be part of the rich and diverse fabric of our community,” said Mayor Harry LaRosiliere.
