Transwestern Leases and Manages 613,500 SF Asset for Sumitomo

April 26, 2021

PHOENIX – Transwestern Real Estate Services (TRS) announces the rebranding and upcoming renovations to 201 E. Washington in downtown Phoenix. Purchased by Sumitomo Corporation of Americas in late 2019 and formerly known as Collier Center, the 613,409-square-foot high-rise will undergo a $10 million capital improvement program and be reintroduced as 201 E. Washington.

“Alongside Sumitomo, we have planned top-of-the-line renovations that will elevate the iconic building beyond recognition from its previous appearance,” said Jim Achen, Transwestern Senior Vice President. “In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have given special consideration to incorporating advanced touchless technology and safe space planning strategies.”

Specific upgrades include a new tenant amenity lounge, conference center with meeting rooms, library, event space, and bike storage room. Additionally, a resort-style fitness center with state-of-the-art equipment, a group fitness studio, and full locker rooms will be added.

“The three-phase process has begun, and we expect it to be completed by fourth quarter 2021,” said Bill Zurek, Transwestern Senior Vice President. “We are excited to unveil the new 201 E. Washington and offer an exceptional 100,000 square feet of contiguous space for lease at this time.”
