TRANSWESTERN ROLE
Paul specializes in the origination, structure and sale of retail real estate investments in the Midwest. He assists institutions and individuals in valuation, placement, timing and marketing of core and value-add shopping centers and malls.
CAREER HIGHLIGHTS
Paul is a 39 year industry veteran. In January 1977 after spending six years as a Certified Public accountant with Arthur Andersen, he started his career as an investment sales broker for the Chicago office of Coldwell Banker Commercial Real Estate (now called CBRE). Prior to Joining Transwestern in 2010, he spent 33 years in investment sales with national firms including CBRE, Royal LePage (sold to Cushman & Wakefield), Cushman and Wakefield, Grubb & Ellis, Trammell Crow (sold to CBRE) and HFF. For 5 years during his career, prior to joining Transwestern, he was Chairman and President of Holmes Barile Realty Advisors a firm that he started and sold to Grubb & Ellis.
During his career his total property sales are approximately $3 billion and include Core and value-add properties from $ 5 million to $200 million. Since 1998 he has specialized primarily in selling Lifestyle, Food anchored, Power and Neighborhood shopping centers in the Midwest. Included in his sales prior to specializing in retail property sales he was involved in the sales of multifamily, office, hotels, regional malls and land. Combined sales are in excess of 20 million square feet of buildings.
A foremost expert in retail investment sales, he remains one of the most well respected professionals in the business today and the choice of major institutions for the sale of distressed assets and core properties. Paul and his partner, Janice Sellis have been instrumental in uncovering retail market trends on the horizon and advising their clients of the impact on their existing assets or new acquisitions.
EDUCATION
Paul has a bachelor of science in accounting and finance from Indiana University. He is a licensed Real Estate Broker and CPA in Illinois and Indiana.
