Derek Montz

Derek currently serves as the Senior Property Manager at One Thousand Main overseeing 837,161 square feet of class AA office and retail space and 10 real estate professionals in the Houston CBD.

Derek began his commercial real estate career in 2018 and has been involved in the management of over 2.5 million square feet of office and retail space including One Thousand Main, 3, 4, and 5 Greenway Plaza, 515 Post Oak, and Energy Center 1 in the Energy Corridor submarket. Derek has been at 1000 Main since July of 2021.  While at One Thousand Main, Derek has collaborated on several multi-million-dollar capital projects, including a full floor speculative suite with a restroom renovation, multiple additional spec suites, tenant renovations totaling approximately 400k square feet, and elevator equipment updates mandated by City of Houston code requirements.  Derek has also had a strong focus on tenant engagement, team collaboration, and staff development.
 

Prior to joining the commercial real estate industry, Derek was in the hospitality industry and most recently was the Operations Manager at iPic Houston for 5 years. During his tenure there he was involved in the hiring, training, and development of a staff of 30+ employees.  During college at the University of Houstons Hilton College of Global Hospitality Leadership, Derek was part of the opening team at the JW Marriott Houston Downtown as a housekeeping supervisor, eventually being promoted to manager.

Derek has won multiple awards in the field including Houston BOMAs Young Professional of the Year and Property Manager of the Year along with Transwesterns Experience Champion.

Derek received his Bachelor of Science degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management from the University of Houston Main Campus in Houston, TX. He is also a Texas Real Estate Agent and holds the CPM and CCIM designations.
