TRANSWESTERN ROLE
Rogelio serves as the Senior Chief Engineer for Phoenix Tower, a 34-floor, Class A office tower in the Greenway Plaza area owned by Group RMC.
CAREER HIGHLIGHTS
Rogelio began his career as a light porter at San Philipe Plaza, a 46-story trophy office building in the Galleria area, in 1990. With many late nights studying for his BOMA courses, he quickly earned his role on the property engineering team and eventually progressed to Chief Engineer. During his 30-year career at San Philipe Plaza, he completed several large-scale capital projects, including chiller replacements, cooling tower replacements, electrical buss riser repairs, and domestic water system overhaul, in addition to serving as an onsite construction manager, completing over $10M in tenant improvement projects. In 2023, Rogelio seized the opportunity to join Transwestern by accepting a temporary role at 1900 and 2000 West Loop South, sister office towers that house Transwestern’s corporate headquarters. In short order, he accepted his long-term assignment at Phoenix Tower and dived into property operations. Rogelio quickly identified several areas of high-risk leak/flood exposure and cost-effectively remediated, fine-tuned utility tracking, enhanced mechanical operations and prescriptively reduced operating expenses while improving tenant satisfaction. He achieved the Energy Star award for Phoenix Tower, a title previously lost in 2018. In 2024, he was awarded “Engineer of the Year” for the Houston area, while the Phoenix Tower property team was awarded “Property Team of the Year”.
Rogelio is a key leader in the Transwestern Houston engineering market. He enjoys mentoring young, driven engineers. He is passionate about learning and teaching and consistently improves Transwestern’s engineering training program.
