CHICAGO – Transwestern Real Estate Services (TRS) announces that it represented Art in Motion, a Distinctive Schools campus, and a charter school that promotes creativity and increases access to artistic pursuits, in the purchase of 7415 S. East End Ave., a 110,000-square-foot property in the South Shore neighborhood. Transwestern Executive Managing Director Larry Serota and Vice President Alex Genova provided Tenant Advisory + Workplace Solutions services for Art in Motion.

“Transwestern has been an invaluable partner throughout this process,” said Scott Frauenheim, Chief Executive Officer of Distinctive Schools. “We are thrilled for the future of Art in Motion, and look forward to the incredible opportunities this new, expanded space will provide for students in the South Shore community.”

Key elements of the renovation include a new broadcast studio, recording studio, theater and additional classroom space. Renovations are expected to be complete in time for the 2022-2023 academic year. Upon completion, Art in Motion will be a full arts high school that serves students in seventh through 12th grade.

"It was an honor to partner with Distinctive Schools on their Art in Motion campus,” said Serota. “They serve as a beacon of hope within the community and play an instrumental role for kids in the arts with their innovative and award-winning curriculum.”

Charter schools are the fastest-growing sector of U.S. education. Currently, 64,795 students are enrolled across 141 charter schools in Illinois, with 122 of those schools in Chicago.

“We are so grateful for the partnership Distinctive Schools has developed with Transwestern,” said Erin Lanoue, Chief Operating Officer of Distinctive Schools. “The strong communication and clear expertise that Transwestern brought to the table was evident throughout, and we are elated to have secured this space and to provide our students with academic and artistic opportunities for years to come.”

Founded in 2019 under Distinctive Schools, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting and accelerating the work of charter schools, Art in Motion is committed to closing the opportunity gap by providing access to rich learning experiences that allow students to think and learn deeply. Their middle school to high school model exposes students to real-world projects, self-directed learning and small group instruction.
