Chicago – Transwestern Development Co. (TDC®) today announces NAIOP has named the General Mills project at RidgePort Logistics Center the “Build-to-Suit of the Year” at the association’s Annual Awards of Excellence. The 1.5 million-square-foot distribution center is just south of the BNSF and Union Pacific Intermodals in Wilmington, Illinois.

TDC and park owner Elion Partners recently celebrated the grand opening of the facility with local and state officials, including Governor Bruce Rauner, State Senator Sue Rezin, State Representative David Welter, and Wilmington Mayor Roy Strong. The General Mills distribution center broke ground in November 2016 and delivered on-time in November 2017.

“It’s an honor to receive this recognition from a premier organization like NAIOP,” said Carleton Riser, President of TDC. “We’re very excited to add a Fortune 500 company to the tenant mix at RidgePort, and we look forward to seeing continued growth and momentum at the park.”

RidgePort Logistics Center is a master-planned, 2,500-acre, rail-served industrial park located at the intersection of Interstate 55 and Lorenzo Road in Wilmington, Illinois. RidgePort has 2.5 miles of frontage along I-55 and 2 miles of frontage along the BNSF Railway mainline that runs from the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach to Chicago. RidgePort maintains a competitive advantage in the marketplace as it has superior on-site infrastructure and proximity to best-in-class regional infrastructure with the BNSF and Union Pacific intermodals. Further, RidgePort provides economic incentive packages to qualified companies, has an Enterprise Zone designation and qualifies as a Foreign Trade Zone.
Approximately 5.5 million square feet has been built with an additional 800,000 under construction. The park has capacity to accommodate roughly 15 million square feet of additional industrial, warehouse and logistics buildings. In addition to General Mills, existing tenants include Lineage, Post Consumer Brands, Michelin, and Batory Foods. A full-service Petro Travel Plaza provides refueling, dining options, and truck queuing, washing and maintenance.
