Transwestern Named Property Management Company for 30,000 SF Development
March 27, 2024
MIAMI – Make-A-Wish® Southern Florida Inc. announces the completion of its new headquarters office, named the Finker-Frenkel Wish House, at 343 NW 6th Street in Miami’s Overtown district. The nonprofit has retained Transwestern to provide Asset Services for the 5-story, 30,000-square-foot building.
“We are enormously proud to open the Finker-Frenkel Wish House and bring a transformative experience to children and their families,” said Norman Wedderburn, President & CEO, Make-A-Wish Southern Florida. “Through our new facility, we look forward to expanding the organization’s mission to provide hope and joy to wish recipients and community members.”
Designed by Miami-based Arquitectonica and developed by Suffolk Construction, the building sits prominently on a highly visible site adjacent to I-95, providing brand value through a virtual billboard. The external shape appears as a simple rectangle, however, the functional plan angles forward toward the highway, creating a pure parallelogram. The resultant volume is a unique and immediately recognizable prismatic form, challenging gravity and symbolizing the challenges and hopes of the Make-A-Wish mission. The blue glass facade reflects the organization’s well-known color palette, reinforcing the messaging strategy and identity. At night, the diagonal stripes follow the mullions to create a powerful graphic presence for the institution, illuminating when wishes are granted.
Inside features welcoming spaces for children and their families as well as WishWorks, a transformative path along a child’s journey throughout the wish experience: from the entrance through the hall of possibilities and imagination to an invitation to play the wishing game and imagine anything is possible, all within a place inspired by children that allows them to always come back and celebrate the power of their wish. The Wish House also comprises the organization's management offices.
“Transwestern is committed to ensuring seamless building operations so the Make-A-Wish organization can focus on its mission of making wishes possible for children in our region,” said Andi Lopez, Transwestern's Managing Senior Vice President.
In 2022, Transwestern recommitted to Make-A-Wish as its national philanthropic partner. Over the past three years, the South Florida region has raised nearly $90,000 for the organization.
