Cate McCormack

Cate is the General Manager of the Civic Opera Building at 20 N. Wacker Drive in Chicago. In this role, she serves as an expert leader for the building’s management team, assisting with capital projects, property maintenance, accounting, service contract negotiations, and building/tenant issues. Cate also acts as a liaison between building owners and Transwestern Chicago and helps on-site property staff understand and achieve ownership objectives.

Cate has over 25 years of experience in asset management. Prior to her time at the Civic Opera Building, she was the General Manager for the Inland Steel Building located at 30 W. Monroe St. While under her management, the Inland Steel Building Cate earned several accolades, such as LEED Gold certification, the Retrofit Chicago Energy Challenge Award for achieving over 20% energy reduction in under two years, and the BOMA 360 Performance Building Recognition for property managed to the highest standards of excellence. Other properties Cate has managed include 500 W. Madison, 55 W. Wacker, The John Marshall Law School and the Chicago Bar Association, a new suburban 250,000-square-foot warehouse, a suburban retail center, and a public library/office building. She has a strong history of experience working with Chicago Landmark properties and has worked hand-in-hand with government agencies to best manage the properties.

Cate earned a bachelor’s degree in finance from Western Illinois University. She is a licensed real estate broker in Illinois.
