Washington – Transwestern today announces it has raised more than $25,000 in 2018 for Make-A-Wish® Mid-Atlantic, which creates life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. Through the Adopt-A-Wish® program, Transwestern’s funds were symbolically linked to Amanda, a four-year-old from Rosedale, Maryland. Amanda, who has a genetic disorder, was granted her wish of getting a special sensory bathroom outfitted with a bath lift, towel warmer, colorful lamp, decorations and plenty of bath toys.

While Amanda uses a wheelchair for mobility and communicates differently than other four-year-olds, she lights up whenever she gets in the water or enjoys other sensory experiences. Amanda has dreamed of having her bathroom transformed into a relaxing place where she could enjoy some of her favorite sensory items, and her heartfelt wish came true with the help of Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic and Transwestern.

“We are so grateful to support Make-A-Wish to bring joy to a child’s life,” said Keith Foery, Transwestern Executive Managing Director and Mid-Atlantic Market Leader. “Thanks to the work of our fundraising team, property managers, and generous team members, we have raised more than $25,000 for Make-A-Wish in 2018.”

Transwestern’s Mid-Atlantic region hosted a variety of internal and external fundraisers in 2018, some of which included: sending a life-sized cutout of Transwestern regional co-leaders to fellow team members’ desks; a Washington Nationals box seats giveaway, courtesy of KBS; Mother’s Day Plant Markets, a fun run, and food trucks at Transwestern-managed properties; and pancake breakfasts hosted by Transwestern Young Professionals. Photos from the events are available on Flickr.

Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic was founded in 1983 and has granted the wishes of more than 9,700 children fighting critical illnesses such as cancer, pediatric AIDS, Spinal Muscular Atrophy, Duchene’s muscular dystrophy, kidney and heart disease.
