15 years of industry experience

February 28, 2019

PHOENIX, ARIZ. – Transwestern Commercial Services (TCS) today announces it has hired Justin Himelstein, who brings 15 years of industry experience, to serve as Senior Vice President and lead the firm’s Occupier Solutions group in Phoenix. Himelstein plans to quickly recruit additional team members to support the Phoenix office’s strategic expansion. Transwestern is focused on curating a collaborative, cohesive, and inclusive environment with brokers steeped in industry experience and team members with deep financial and business expertise.

During his career, Himelstein has been involved with more than 700 transactions for a total consideration exceeding $1 billion. He previously worked at Cushman & Wakefield as a member of the Tenant Advisory Group within the office division.

“Justin has incredible tenant representation expertise, knows the market in and out and demonstrates strong leadership skills,” said Mark Stratz, Transwestern’s Managing Director and Phoenix City Leader. “Equally important, Justin is genuine, humble and confident, doesn’t involve an ego and has a lifelong interest in learning.”

Stratz is working closely with another recent hire, Jim Fijan, Executive Managing Partner, to broaden the firm’s market share while fostering a collaborative and engaging environment throughout the region.

Himelstein previously served at Grubb & Ellis for 15 years as the company eventually transitioned to Cushman & Wakefield. He was recognized as “Rookie of the Year” in 2007, named a Top Producer for 10 consecutive years, and awarded the “Rising Star” award in 2011.

“Transwestern’s unique environment that encourages team members to share ideas and offer advice is very appealing,” Himelstein said. “We’ll be utilizing new marketing techniques, fostering relationships, and ensuring our clients grow, all while celebrating successes together.”

Himelstein has a core group of clients with whom he has long-standing relationships. He began working with one client, Tallwave, 10 years ago when it needed only 500 square feet. Today, Himelstein has helped Tallwave occupy close to 20,000 square feet. Other long-term clients include Camelback Services, Empire West Title Agency, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Hospice of the Valley, and the Weitz Co.

By the end of 2019, Himelstein plans to hire at least three more experienced team members. He is looking for innovative and creative professionals with an intense passion for commercial real estate who pursue opportunities to learn and grow as individuals.

Nik Vallens, who has expertise in finance, corporate risk management and project management, works with Himelstein as a Senior Associate. Vallens brings tenants and owner-occupants a unique understanding of commercial office space, financial operations and strategic decision making at the C-suite level.

Himelstein is involved with NAIOP and serves on the board for Gen Next, a national network of leaders tackling the greatest generational challenges of our time. He earned a bachelor’s degree in business real estate from the University of Arizona.
