MIAMI – Transwestern today announces the addition of Paris Williams as Geographic Information Systems Research Analyst in Miami. Williams will work with the national research team to explore ways GIS can be used to inform business decisions, while analyzing and creating content to support client needs and business development efforts in the Southeast region.
“Paris adds another valuable perspective to our advisory services capabilities,” said Bruce Ford, Transwestern’s Southeast President. “She brings a strong background in economic development and GIS to Transwestern and is equipped to help our team members track and present information in a manner that is clear, concise and meaningful.”
Currently an adjunct professor for GIS and Geography at Broward College, Williams comes to Transwestern from the Miami Downtown Development Authority, where she served as Research and GIS Coordinator for the past two years. In this position, she was responsible for tracking a variety of economic indicators and geospatial data to perform custom analyses and design mapping solutions and visualizations for print, online and interactive formats. Earlier in her career, she provided geospatial intelligence analysis and created cartographic products as a GIS specialist for federal defense contractor Leidos.
“GIS and location analytics are increasingly important in the real estate decision-making process for all commercial property types,” said Brian Landes, Director of GIS and Location Intelligence for Transwestern. “It allows us to get under the hood and see what location variables make a business successful, then compare and contrast those with a particular industry or geography.”
Williams holds a bachelor’s degree in geography from Arizona State University in Tempe and a master’s degree in GIS and sustainability management from the University of Washington in Seattle.
