Katy Schmidt is a senior portfolio manager with Transwestern overseeing the operations for approximately 1 million-square-feet of office properties in Northern Virginia.  Katy manages operational and financial administration, supervises the onsite engineering and management teams, oversees vendor contracts, administers the annual budget process and completes monthly and quarterly financial reporting. She also works with construction management teams to complete tenant improvement and capital improvement projects throughout the year.


Katy has been active in commercial real estate for over ten years. She began her property management career as an intern for Akridge and advanced to the position of property manager before joining Transwestern in 2012. She previously served as a senior property manager for Transwestern at Metro Park, a 1.2 million-square-foot Class A office portfolio in Alexandria, Virginia, where she played a key role in the base building construction of two buildings as well as the LEED® EB and OM Silver certification for an existing building within the portfolio.

Katy received a bachelor’s degree in communication studies with a minor in religious studies from Christopher Newport University in Newport News, Virginia. Katy also received her BOMA Real Property Administrator (RPA) designation, as well as being a CPM candidate with IREM. She has received her LEED Green Associate designation.
