Biography
TRANSWESTERN ROLE
Justin is the Chief Engineer of Baker Center, a 1 million-square-foot 4 building office complex located in downtown Minneapolis. In this role, he is responsible for all day-to-day physical building and related support systems. He works directly with property management in implementing and maintaining the energy management system, preventative maintenance, quality standards, operating objectives, and goals of the owners and Transwestern. Justin Manages the engineering department which includes overseeing the building engineering staff, training and support. He also manages a large portion of the budget which involves identifying and highlighting areas and equipment that need upgrades or replacement. Once established he goes through the bidding process, approval process, vendor selection, and project management through the completion of project.
CAREER HIGHLIGHTS
Justin has over 16 years of experience in the building maintenance and HVAC field. He has changed roles over the years starting as a maintenance mechanic and moved to building engineer, Senior building engineer, assistant chief engineer and chief engineer. He has also worked as a service technician working on HVAC equipment within a portfolio of buildings throughout the greater twin cities area. He also took over a Class A office building and operated a chiller plant independently. Justin has implemented cost savings initiatives throughout the years with steam trap audits and maintenance as well as BAS upgrades which included substantial cost savings in operational expenses and lighting upgrades which saw substantial cost savings. Justin has also introduced many projects that had substantial payback with rebates.

EDUCATION
Justin graduated from Dunwoody College of Technology with an AAS degree in HVAC system service and later went to night school at Dunwoody College of Technology to receive his bachelor’s degree in applied management graduating with honors. Justin also holds a CFC -608 universal refrigeration certification, special class engineer license, and 2nd class C boilers license. He holds the following designations through BOMA international - system maintenance technician and system maintenance administrator. He also has training in NFPA 70E and OSHA 10.
