David specializes in providing investment services as well as tenant advisory services for nonprofit organizations, with an emphasis in adaptive reuses, consolidations, build-to-suits, lease/purchase/sale strategies and feasibility studies. 


With over 25 years of industry experience, David has represented public corporations, property owners, users, and developers, while engaging government regulatory authorities, in managing dispositions and acquisitions. He is adeptly skilled in evaluating market conditions, valuing properties, identifying and  addressing impediments, negotiating and structuring market priced purchase and lease transactions, and in monitoring and resolving issues during escrow.
Prior to joining Transwestern, David served as principal at his own firm, David G. Chavez & Associates, where he provided real estate consultation and brokerage services for a wide range of clients in the East Bay. Previously, David was with Colliers International where he served as senior vice president and managing director for the San Francisco Peninsula office. David has also previously served as vice president at BT Commercial Real Estate and Grubb & Ellis Company.


David is an active member of the Stanford Alumni Association, Oakland Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce, Urban Land Institute (U.L.I.) and Stanford Professionals in Real Estate (S.P.I.R.E.).


David received his bachelor's degree in political science from Stanford University and his juris doctor degree from Hastings College of Law, University of California. He is a licensed real estate broker in the State of California. License # 00887571
